Great protection
I bought these after an early season snowboard holiday when I came back with a bruised coccyx and several aches and pains. On my later trip with these shorts I came back almost unscathed. A great purchase.

Very comfortable but hard if you fall
I have to confess to questioning the whole premise of these shorts

D3O is a wonderful material - a wonder of our time perhaps - and it makes these shorts extremely wearable. They are comfortable; being flexible when you put them on, move, sit and so on. They are quite thin too so discrete - not like the thicker alternative padded/armoured pants - so you don't look like you are wearing a nappy on the slopes

BUT - if you fall - the protection pads go hard - and I do mean hard. So you can really get a nasty bang through them - there is very little absorption of the energy in the fall - it is simply transferred to you
