Well made, quite warm, some quirks
This is quite a sleek, modern looking parka which is made to the usual Helly Hansen standards. Like most of the their jackets, it's made using proper mountain/marine technologies. So it really is very waterproof and windproof, has lovely fleece lined handwarmer pockets, strong zips and so on. In terms of keeping the elements at bay it does it's job well. However this means that for about-town use, it can be a bit OTT. The collar, when zipped right up, comes up over your chin which is great for a biting North wind but means it's a bit gaping when not done up. Same with the hood - it's MASSIVE! I imagine it's designed to be suitable to go over an ice-helmet or something. I've a big head no doubt and this thing comes right over and covers my eyes. This isn't a practical problem because you can adjust this with the bungie-cord adjusters, except these crinkle the hood up and ruin the look. It's pretty warm but not up there with down-filled jackets. You need to be wearing sweaters etc in...

Was worried when it arrived that it seemed a bit thin, but the technology obviously works as it is lovely and warm. Hood adjuster is great to keep hood out of eyes. Looks great too. Hood and fur both removable independently.
